History

The first historical mention is in 1088 when the castle of Monte Pesclaturo was donated by count Rudolph of Boiano to the Counts of Isernia. Until the 15th century Pesche was under the jurisdiction of Montecassino.

In the 12th century its lord was Guglielmo De Pesclo, then it passed to the Spinelli family and finally to the Ceva Grimaldi who were also the last feudal lords.

  • Ruins of the medieval Castle.
  • The church of Santa Maria dei Bagni, built in the Middle Ages on the spot where the Romans had erected their spas (Bagni meaning baths).
  • The church of San Michele Arcangelo.
