Ascrea, Province of Rieti, Lazio Region, Italy
The small center rises on the slopes of the Filone mountain, in a position from where a splendid view of the lake of the Turano can be enjoyed.
Its origins, when compared with many other centers of the area, are rather recent, since the settlement took form between the 11th and 14th century, as a consequence of the depopulation of the villages of Bulgaretta and Mirandella, located to the north and south of the Turano Lake, respectively.
