An agricultural town and tourist resort, Moliterno stands on a rocky promontory overlooking the valley of the Agri river.
The town has a medieval castle, built by the Normans There are two interesting churches, the Church of the Rosario, built for the Dominican monastery, and the Church of Santa Croce, which has a Baroque altars and a 17th-century wooden Crucifix.
